One of Sierra Leone’s youngest pop singers, Benjamin Menelik George popularly known as Drizilik, has disclosed to Salone Jamboree that Sierra Leone music will soon ‘Pop Collar’. He said people will start to realize the essence of Sierra Leone music in the coming years as he plans to take his musical career to another level.
The singer was among a set of artists that performed at the New School UnCut show on the 20th December, 2016 at Family Kingdom. He said Sierra Leoneans will see positive changes in the country’s music industry very soon.
Drizilik, who started his musical career in 2010 with his first mix tape ‘I want tell’, said he got his inspiration from happenings in society and the way people behave generally. He started with DDF as his first record label in 2010 and he is currently working with the Grand Mark Records Label. His first show as a musician was staged at the O’ Caseys Beach Bar at Lumley. In July 2015 Drizilik released the hit song ‘Pop Collar’. He is presently working on his maiden album which he said will be out soon to take his career to another level.
