Popular Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel, aka Sammy, wants to end up as a servant of God.Mr Michel, who is also known as Joe, recently spent about three weeks in Sierra Leone as part of a movie project with some US-based Sierra Leoneans, and he spoke to Salonjamboree about his plan to host religious crusades across West Africa.
Majid landed in Freetown on April 7, 2017 to shoot two movies for Prime International Productions (PIP) and Real Time Management (RTM) companies (owned by Winstina Taylor and Princess Jnap Sesay respectively). These two women are also producers of the movies titled ‘High Fashion’, and the latest and only Sierra Leonean series titled ‘THE COMPANY,’ which recently premiered at Family Kingdom on May 6.
Majid says his ”healing crusades” will premier in Nigeria and later be extended to his home country and then to the rest of West Africa.
This revelation is likely to come as a surprise to many fans of the actor known for his romantic roles in his movies.
But the actor says it shouldn’t be a surprise. “This is the simplest thing to do,” he said (amidst laughter).
This is Majid’s first time doing movies in Sierra Leone. And during his stay, he heaped praises on the hospitality of Sierra Leoneans. But he also told Salone Jamboree that more was needed in terms of commitment.
“We need an idea about film making, we need people with passion, people who are ready to work overnight,” he stated.
