Famous Sierra Leonean rapper LAJ, alongside one of Nigeria’s biggest acts- Davido, thrilled fans in a live musical concert in Maryland, USA, last week (March 25), probably putting an end to wide spread speculation that the ‘Money Na Bank’ star would be deported back to his homeland Sierra Leone. The rapper was recently released from a prison in Farmsville, Virginia, USA after serving a 27 months jail term for “identity theft and credit card fraud”. Davido performing live
According to one of the promoters, Baba Timbo, the show signals a loud comeback for the Red Flag Movement artist and definitely ‘a new beginning’. “It (the show) came out as we anticipated; it was a huge success for both artists, especially LAJ,” said Timbo, who is also President for the All African Promotions. “It was also an opportunity to condemn the unfounded rumor of deportation.” Timbo said they decided to feature LAJ to bring out the crowd from the DMV as he described the rapper as “a son of the soil”. “We reasoned that without LAJ, the likelihood for more people to come out and see Davido would be slim. LAJ is a son of DMV, and he is crowd puller for sure. People came from different states just to see him perform after all the controversial stories about him,” said Timbo. Meanwhile, details of LAJ’s release from prison are still sketchy.
