Sierra Leonean actor based in America, Brian Conteh was cast in one of Hollywood’s best TV series ‘Walking Dead.’ Brian Conteh was cast as one of the college professors alongside Hollywood’s top actress, Julian Ormond.
‘Walking Dead’ is an American post-apocalyptic television series based on the comic book of the same name co-authored by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. It was developed for television by Frank Darabont and premiered on the cable network AMC on October 31st, 2010.
The series focuses on Rick Grimes, a sheriff’s deputy who slips into a coma after being shot. He awakens to find himself in a dangerous new world that has been overrun by “walkers”. He joins a group of survivors (including his wife and son) as they try to survive in a world among the undead.
In February 2019, the series was renewed for a tenth season, which premiered on October 6. In the same month, the series was renewed for an eleventh season. In September 2020, AMC confirmed that the eleventh season would be the series’ last and would consist of 24 episodes broadcast from 2021 to 2022. Following the conclusion of the main series, it will be followed by a spin-off featuring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride as their characters Daryl and Carol, which is set to premiere in 2023.
Brian was born in Sierra Leone on Macdonald Street by Congo Market in western Freetown. He attended Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood Secondary School on Berry Street and later the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School, Lissy Dockyard. He started working as a Tailor apprentice and did fishing as well. During all that period, he was dancing with various groups, including STYLISTICS DANCERS
He went to America with the intention of pursuing his education but one day he met with his kinsman David Vandy who asked him to join his Production. They met at a rehearsal for a stage play titled “TRUE FRIENDSHIP.” Here he played the role of the ‘Adekalie’s, chief guard’ with a role to maintain order in the ‘Baray.’ After that, he went on to stare in three more plays titled ‘CRY OF A COUNTRY VIRGIN’, ‘LIFE AND TIME OF MADAM YOKO’ and ‘LOVE CRIMES’ in which he starred as the lead actor.
He was first brought into the movie acting by a Cameroonian woman producer, Abi Dominion after she noticed that Brian was good at mimicking a Pakistani man, so, therefore, he was given the role as a Pakistani in the movie ‘DEEP WITHIN”
Brian Conteh has acted in more than 20 movies; some are yet to be released; and has acted alongside various stars from Hollywood, Nollywood, Ghallywood etc. He has won several awards, including the first award winner in Los Angeles for Best Actor, Lios International Fashion Entertainment Award and more.
He was featured in fellow Sierra Leonean based in the American as Well Iron Master in his movie ‘2 Face, starred with Nigerian Mama G in Double Wahala. He is a member of the Sierra Leone Association of Artists and Musicians.
On February 14, 2019, another of his movie, “LOVE GAME’ was premiered in which he rolled with top Nigerian actors. In 2018, Brian was nominated for DDEA HUMANITARIAN AWARD.
According to Brian, who spoke to Salonejamboree, he said he was very happy to be part of the movie. He gave thanks to the Almighty God for giving him that opportunity as he promised to fly the name of Sierra Leone high in the Hollywood industry
He has met with big names in Hollywood, including veteran actor MEL NOVAK, who had acted in several Hollywood movies like GAME DEATH, AN EYE FOR AN EYE, THE ULTIMATE etc.
